Iquitos Jungle & Adventure – 4 Days – 3 Nights

Iquitos is part of the Amazonian Forest of Peru in South America, considered one of the main natural reserves of the world and a paradise for Eco tourism. “A few hectares of Peruvian Amazon Rainforest can contain as many plant species as the whole of Europe”. Explore with us the wonders and adventures in the forest; our tourist lodges, guided visits, exotic animals and native communities, through our tour packages. Cumaceba Lodge, a 100% ecological built jungle lodge on the Amazon River, is one of the best nature travel destinations in the world.

Duration: 4 days – 3 nights
Location:  Iquitos – Peruvian rainforest
  • Transport from the hotel or airport to the port of Bellavista on the Nanay River.
  • Boat ride to the lodge.
  • Transport by boat to the Bora Indian villages and the Serpentarium and back to the port of Bellavista. Transport by our own private bus back to the hotel or to the airport.
  • Three meals a day during the whole period that the tourist is inside the lodge: breakfast, and lunch: Tea and coffee 24 hours a day from our hot water fountain. If the tourist arrives mid-aftermoon then dinner will be served. The same applies for the final day.
  • Bottled water from a water fountain next to the bar and swimming pool, fresh fruit juices during breakfast.
  • All tours mentioned in the program.

  • Plane tickets.
  • Food and drinks in the city of Iquitos the first and last day.
  • All consumption at the bar.
  • Tips.

Day 01: 

We will pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Iquitos, to the port, to board the speedboat, on the way we observe the Nanay and Amazon River, you will note the “meeting of the waters” a blending of the Amazon which is brown and Nanay which is black water. Some times you can see the pink or gray dolphins.

We will visit Barrio Florido –  Fundo Don Pedrito, a small village where you can see Victoria Regia plants, and see a collection of aligators and paiche fish, continuing visit the serpentarium, where a local Peruvian man has a fine collection of wild animals including Boa and Anaconda snakes, monkeys, jungle cats and sloths.
Upon arrival at the Lodge, we will enjoy a welcome drink made of local tropical fruits. Our Guide will explain the activities and he will give an orientation of the bungalows. Lunch.

Free Afternoon: Boating, walking excursion, time to relax to enjoy the lodge facilities.

 

Day 02: 

After breakfast: Hike through the jungle to explore the rainforest. We will visit the river communities of Gen Gen and Centro Fuerte where we will learn the customs and habits of the mestizo people, visit the Botanical Garden Chullachaki, the owner will give an explanation about medicinal plants growing in this beautiful garden. Visit the Alamas Indigenous Tribe, they recently moved to our area, they offer us a typical friendly greeting.

After the evening meal, we wil navigate for Momon River, at appropriate time the guide turned off the engine, and in complete silence we can observe the moon, the stars, enjoying the chorus of nocturnal animals.

 

Day 03: 

After breakfast we will travel by boat to Piranha Park a private reserve, there are five lakes, in one of them you can fish piranhas, in another other fish of the region, take a ride on a cayak; you can observe primates, a great variety of trees with long fibers and medicinal plants; you can see Victoria Regia, considered the largest water lilies.

In the aternoon, we will take a hike to the Trapiche, where you will see the local sugar cane maker and taste a delicious sugar cane liquor.

Night tour: We will take a night walk to hear the night sounds.
After dinner, we will have a musical jungle jam session.

 

Day 04: 

On the way back to Iquitos, we will visit the Boras Indigenous Tribe, they are a friendly tribe who will show us their traditional dancing and singing,  the young Indian girls invite the tourists to join in the dancing, after that they will show us their lovely collection of handicrafts, they offer for sale to the visitors.

Visit to the Butterfly Farm, is a large enclosed area which houses dozens of species of native butterflies. Here you can see and walk among many different species of the most beautiful butterflies of the Amazon, and experience their whole life circle.

City tour: You will visit the main attractions of the city: The Boulevard, The Main Square, The Catholic Cathedral, The Cast Iron House. Visit the Quistococha Zoo, where you will see a wonderfull collection os different species of animals.

Note: You can take this tour the fisrts or the last day, according the arrival flight time of the passenger, theweather conditions, etc.

Transfer to the airport or your Hotel in Iquitos.

Note: We can not bring the passenger to the Lodge after 3.00pm, because there are floating logs along the river. If passengers arrive in Iquitos at this time or later, they must spend 01 night in the City, and we will pick you up the next day.

You should bring:

  • Insect repellant
  • Good walking shoes that cover the heals (to avoid twisting your ankle)
  • Sun hat
  • Sunglasses
  • SunBlock
  • Camera with plenty of film and batteries
  • Flashlight/torch to use at nighttime (plus spare batteries)
  • Lightweight raincoat with rainproof hat
  • Umbrella in case of rain
  • Pair of Binoculars
  • Water flask (fresh drinking water for jungle treks)
  • Swimming costume (for swimming in our large pool or in the river)
  • The native Indian tribes in the area are very poor and love to receive gifts of used clothing, old toys or anything at all that the tourist does not need and wishes to donate. Also, any items for children such as paper, pencils and pens are very gratefully received.
