The archaeological site of Vilcabamba is a part of the complex system of andean towns in Vilcabamba and Espiritu Pampa or Vilcabamba la Nueva (New Vilcabamba) in the inca times, it was joined and conected with Machupicchu by a complex net work of trails. This route is one of the last unexplored routes altrough nowadays there are more people exploring it more often to the landscape and the closest contact with the andean settlers who dress in really typical and unique customs in the world.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Quillabamba
We will pick up you  from your hotel and transport by tourist bus to Quillabamba 7:00 pm. We will arrive to Quillabamba 4:00 am.

Day 2: Quillabamba – Huancacalle
We will rest 2 hours and we will take other bus to Huancacalle 4 hours of transport, in this village we will take a lunch. In the afternoon we will visit the archeological complex of the Vitkus, Rosaspata and Ñustahispana.Camp.

Day 3: Huancacalle – Vilcabamba la Vieja
We will depart at around 9:00am. In the direction to Vilcabamba la Vieja (Old Vilcabamba) along a climbing trail with many levels variations and along which we will see little groups of houses, flora, small wild birds and spectacular views, after aproximately five hours of walking we will arrive at our campsite.

Day 4: Vilcabamba la Vieja – Otuto
We will wake up at around 7:00 am and after breakfast we will leave to Otuto, this day we will ascend to the Qollpaqasa pass, from this point we will see all valley of the Concevidayoq, after the pass we will descend observing the landscape to Otuto camp.

Day 5: Otuto – Vista Alegre
The journey is down hill, this day we will appreciate vegetation of cloud forest, whose climate is template-hot and we will appreciate the Concevidayoq river, we will eat lunch on the river shore.
After a rest, the walk is continued until we'll arrive to the place called Vista Alegre, where we will camp.

Day 6: Vista Alegre – Concevidayoq
After the breakfast, we'll entere to the valley of Concevidayoq , quite warm, we'll arrive to Q'asa Cross, a favorite place, where we will appreciate abundant flora and fauna, small wild birds for example the Cock of the Rocks, arriving to Tunkimayu, in order to direct us toward Concebidayoq Camp.

Day 7: Concevidayoq – Espiritu Pampa – Chuanquiry
On this day we will get up at 5:00 am  to leave concevidayoq an 2 hours later we´ll arrive to Espiritu Pampa located into the highland jungle it constitute our last day of walking, the climate is tropical and humid in this valley, after we will visit and appreciate the last reffuge of the Manco Inca or Manco II and variety of flora and fauna them we´ll arrive to Chuanquiry place of our seventh camp.

Day 8: Chuanquiry – Quiteny – Quillabamba – Cusco
Our journey of this day is by a land road, in a bus toward the city of Kiteni, we travel the Alto Urubamba Valley river-up 6 hours after we will arrive to Quillabamba and then we'll take the bus to Cusco.

  • Pick-up from your hotel in the morning and transfer in private bus to Quillabamba, the starting point of the trek. And bus or truck from Chuanquiry to Quillabamba and bus ticket to Cusco. 
  • Igloo tents. 2 people in each 3 people capacity tents to allow for higher comfort and a safe keeping of backpacks.
  • One mattress per person.
