Pisco
Independence Bay.
Anyone wanting to escape noise and crowds will find the beaches of Independency bay ideal for camping or just spending a beautiful day on the beach. To reach the bay, take the partially paved road that heads from the entrance booth for 2 hours, 30 minutes, passing through Mendieta and “Salinas de Otuma”. One of the best places is Cruz de Carhuas, which has wide sandy beaches, good swimming, fishing and diving, and areas sheltered from the wind. Although a four-wheel drive vehicle is not strictly necessary, a vehicle with good ground clearance would be advisable. Avoid driving this route at night as there are numerous tracks which can confuse even the most experienced traveler.
Barlovento.
An area of beautiful, although somewhat windy beaches at the far end of the reserve, much frequented by surf fishermen for the abundance of delicious species such as sole or sea bass. Antana, El Negro, Gallinazo and Boca del Rio are just a few of the beaches in this area. Access the area by following tracks which lead from “Laguna Grande” 3 hours. This is only for experienced off road drivers. We also suggest taking sufficient water, clothing and supplies.
